Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

Echuca

Race 1 – Boss Boy

Jockey – Mitch Aitken

1200m – Barrier 5

Three-year-old galloper Boss Boy makes his racetrack debut at Echuca over 1200-metres this afternoon. The gelded son of Cable Bay has been sound in a pair of recent jumpouts, given a little push at his latest in preparation for today. Jockey Mitch Aitken leaves from a middle draw and can let his gelding find his feet in the early parts, settling where comfortable in the back straight.

Scratchings have decimated the field and early speed, leaving Brutal World the likely leader from the inside, while expect Controlled Zone and Grand Intention to roll across from out wider on the track. This trio hold the key to the race, so how they sort themselves out will be interesting early on. Grand Intention has a hard-luck story to tell from her debut run at Ballarat, unlucky not to fight out the finish with the eventual winner, World’s My Oyster. She shouldn’t run into any traffic issues from the outside barrier and any improvement from her first run sees her as hardest to beat. Little between Controlled Zone and Brutal World, who have both been solid of late. Brutal World finished alongside Ahha Ahha at Colac last time out, that runner two-and-a-half lengths from Scillato at Flemington last Saturday. That’s good form for this. Others would surprise.

Boss Boy will improve from whatever he does today, likely to appreciate more ground next time at the races. He’ll be given every chance to settle and finish off the race, and has the privilege of first use of the track today. Top four claims.

Currently, Boss Boy is a $35 chance in the market.

Echuca

Race 1 – Arrowly

Jockey – Rose Hammond

1200m – Barrier 7

Three-year-old filly Arrowly is second-up and fitter when she gets out to 1200-metres at Echuca this afternoon. The daughter of Redente was just okay at Ararat on debut, turning for home a long way back in a race dominated by those on-pace. Apprentice hoop Rose Hammond will want to settle closer today, looking for cover midfield before finishing the race off in the home straight.

Arrowly will be better for her debut run and the extra 100-metres today is in her favour. She’ll appreciate the steadier tempo at 1200-metres and can leave less to do at the back end of the race. Still with improvement to come, expecting a better effort today.

Currently, Arrowly is an $81 chance in the market.
