Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

Warrnambool

Race 4 – Porrista

Jockey – Madison Lloyd

1200m – Barrier 2

Four-year-old mare Porrista is second-up and fitter when she returns to Warrnambool this afternoon. The daughter of Telperion travelled sweetly at her only other start here in April, before copping interference in the home straight and finishing sixth. Her first-up run at Ballarat a fortnight ago was only just, however improvement is expected on a wet track today. Jockey Maddi Lloyd leaves from an inside gate and can look to settle midfield or better with cover throughout before finishing off in the home straight.

Speed comes from Windara Wolf in gate one, while expect Dimora Queen and Tremamore to be somewhere near the speed on settling. Dimora Queen has been thereabouts in all career starts to date, finishing within a length of the winner here in September before a short break. She draws for the right run in transit, heavy ground the query. One of the main chances. Swanny Dee beat Dimora Queen home when fresh last preparation, before being beaten as a short-priced favourite next time out. That was on heavy ground, so that question mark remains. Each way claims. So too August Bonus, who is slightly up in trip, and Tremamore, who just missed last start.

Porrista will be better with the first-up run under her belt today, and looks suited on a rain-affected surface. She won’t want to get too far back in the run, and if near enough on the turn can run into contention late. Each way claims.

Currently, Porrista is a $10 chance in the market.
