Moe
Race 2 – Black Cherry
Jockey – Jye McNeil
1100m – Barrier 7
Brazen Beau filly Black Cherry is second-up and fitter when she heads to Moe this afternoon. The three-year-old galloper was sound on debut at Ballarat four weeks ago, settling rearward before making some ground in the home straight behind an all-the-way leader at 1000-metres. Blinkers go on for today, jockey Jye McNeil able to settle in the front half of the field with a clean getaway and be right there turning for home.
Speed is just okay, expecting Mrs Archibald and Double Pi to use their inside draws to settle handy in the run, while debutants Proven Soul and Dreams have shown gate speed in their respective jumpouts. Transactions has been solid at both career starts, not far away in strong maidens at Geelong and The Valley. Gets blinkers on here and should receive a lovely trail throughout. Hardest to beat. Each way claims to first-starters Dreams and Proven Soul who look to have their share of ability, while Mrs Archibald will likely lead them into the home straight and have every chance to finish off.
Black Cherry has worked well in blinkers since her first start and is capable of sharp improvement this afternoon. Rain is predicted, and a soft track is likely to play in her favour. No surprise to see her somewhere around the mark here.
Currently, Black Cherry is a $51 chance in the market.
