Sandown
Race 3 – Wuddzz
Jockey – Jaylah Kennedy
2400m – Barrier 1
Seven-year-old galloper Wuddzz is six weeks between runs when he returns to Sandown this afternoon. The gelded son of Complacent was runner-up at this track and trip last time out behind today’s rival Brilliant Venture, who found only the in-form Dashing Duchess better at The Valley in Saturday grade next time out. Flying apprentice Jaylah Kennedy claims 2kg from the inside alley and can enjoy a soft run midfield throughout, looking for the best part of the track to get out and chasing late in the piece.
Speed looks genuine enough with Lottaroc and Waamil to roll forward from the centre, while expect Vegas Knight, Brilliant Venture and Cable Dancer to all push on and look for forward positions on settling. Brilliant Venture has had a pair of runs at The Valley since winning here six weeks ago, solid when runner-up to Dashing Duchess first go before a plainer effort behind the same runner eleven days ago. Better suited back to this grade, though does rise 3kg on his latest win. One of the main chances. Cable Dancer returns to the grass after some good efforts on synthetic surfaces of late. In the placings his last five and expect another honest effort today. Each way claims. So too Noble Knight, who drops in grade but cops a weight penalty for the privilege. Mr Lincoln the knockout hope.
Wuddzz doesn’t get the rain-affected surface he’s been waiting for today, but has raced well on dry tracks twice this preparation. He gets a 3kg weight-swing on the horse that beat him last time and has drawn for a soft run throughout the race. If he can get out and rolling at the right time, he can again make his presence felt late. Each way claims.
Currently, Wuddzz is a $10 chance in the market.
