Seymour
Race 5 – Moscow Red
Jockey – Alysha Warren
1600m – Barrier 6
Last start winner Moscow Red returns to the scene of that victory, staying at 1600-metres at Seymour this afternoon. The evergreen eleven-year-old was given an excellent ride by apprentice Alysha Warren last start, plotting a path through the field from the back to finish strongest and win comfortably on the line. The young hoop retains the ride today and can enjoy a similar run from barrier six, looking for the best going to run home in the home straight.
Speed is okay with Sacred Ted and Play On Words to roll forward from towards the outside, while Winged and Barrington Manor can punch through to hold their positions from nearer the inside. Many with a chance in a big field. Some Sheila has been good at her most recent grass runs, just missing on heavy ground at this track two starts back over 1400-metres. First go at a mile but must be considered. Crazy Atom is racing consistently but was beaten over five lengths by Moscow Red here five weeks ago. Has been runner-up at Albury since. Each way claims. So too Kiss My Millo, who will relish the heavy conditions today. Looks close to a win. Others with minor claims.
Moscow Red has had a quiet jumpout since her last run, and is in terrific order heading into today’s contest. The mare gets conditions to suit and should receive a sift run in the second half of the field throughout. If the gaps appear at the right time, she’ll take holding out late. Chance for the double.
Currently, Moscow Red is a $9 chance in the market.
