Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday Preview

Moonee Valley

Race 1 – Electric Impulse

Jockey – Jaylah Kennedy

1600m – Barrier 1

Talented mare Electric Impulse heads to The Valley for the first time over a mile tis afternoon. The five-year-old daughter of Cable Bay has been racing well without winning this preparation, producing an eye-catching finish at Sandown last start when unlucky not to win from an impossible position back in the field. Red-hot apprentice Jaylah Kennedy rides from the inside alley and will look to begin cleanly and hold her position near the front approaching the first bend.

Waimarie will roll forward from gate three in the early parts in search of the lead, while Lievore can edge across from the outside barrier and apply some pressure from the outset. Waimarie has won two of her past three, easily taking care of a lesser field ten days ago when leading throughout at her first go at 1600-metres. Hard to knock winning form, and she should get every chance from the top again. Hardest to beat. At the other end, Roadie has won three of her past four starts, racing through her grades and earning a shot at this company. She’ll be back in the field and hitting the line hard. Concede an each way chance to Lievore.

Electric Impulse gets first use of the track today and will appreciate any juice offered in the surface. Kennedy’s claim gets her in well at the weights, how she handles the tight Valley circuit will be key to her chances. Anything close to her best has her as the one to beat.

Currently, Electric Impulse is a $3.50 chance in the market.

Morphettville

Race 1 – Governor King

Jockey – Neil Farley

1800m – Barrier 8

Last start winner Governor King heads to Adelaide a fortnight after a resounding victory in the wet at Sale. The gelded son of Fiorente made a mess of his rivals on that occasion, cruising into the race on the home bend and running away for a seven-and-a-half length win to earn a shot at Saturday grade. Jockey Neil Farley leaves from barrier eight of eight and can come out neutral, settling where comfortable in the run on the spacious Morphettville circuit.

Burning Bright from gate six looks as likely as any to push forward and find the top, while Jamrock and Staunch can box-seat behind the speed in the early parts. Staunch was a solid effort first-up at Geelong last start, finishing strongly to win in similar company at 1400-metres. Quickly to 1800-metres here but races like it will suit. Hardest to beat. Race drops away from there, perhaps each way claims to Puissy Galore and Burning Bright. But suspect they’re fighting out the minors.

Governor King couldn’t have been more impressive when he cast aside his opposition at Sale. The runner-up from that day has since won easily at Ballarat, and he simply looks better than these today. Assuming he copes with the travel, he can make it two on the bounce.

Currently, Governor King is a $2.25 chance in the market.

Mildura

Race 3 – Pressure Cooker

Jockey – Will Gordon

1912m – Barrier 6

Five-year-old galloper Pressure Cooker strikes a winnable race at Mildura this afternoon. The gelded son of Adelaide was plain when out to 2100-metres last start, but was sound the start prior back at 1500-metres. He lands somewhere in between today over 1900-metres, jockey Will Gordon able to enjoy a nice trail into the race and work home strongly in the home straight.

Irlandais can use the inside to boot through and hold its spot in the early parts, while Detoron and Ocean Mocean can roll across and find forward positions heading into the back. Plenty of convictions among this lot. Irlandais has had three runs this time in and looks ready for this trip now. Query on dry ground but should get every chance from on-speed. Ring The Sherriff went close here two starts back then was a sound placing rising in trip at Swan Hill last time out. Back to this trip okay, minor claims. Detoron next best in a moderate event.

Pressure Cooker gets his chance to find the winner’s circle today, back on top of the ground and fitter at this point of his preparation. His best is good enough to sweep aside this field, but need to see it today.

Currently, Pressure Cooker is a $4.40 chance in the market.
