Henry Dwyer Racing – Monday Preview

Pakenham Synthetic

Race 5 – Garnet Bay

Jockey – Will Price

1400m – Barrier 12

Two-year-old filly Garnet Bay makes her racetrack debut on the Synthetic at Pakenham this afternoon. The daughter of Embellish has jumped out soundly in preparation for her debut, barring a forgetful morning at Burrumbeet, and 1400-metres is likely to be right at the bottom end of her distance range. Jockey Will Price rides from the outside gate in a field of twelve and can find cover in the second half of the field before running on in the home straight.

Speed looks okay in the early parts, with Poseidon’s Son and Missile Girl to go fast and look for the top, while Great Prosperity, Magic Defense and Unholstered won’t be far away turning for home. A few with a chance here. Kirk gets blinkers on for his third career start and looks suited rising to this trip today. He made good ground from a long way back in a slowly-run race last time out and should be able to settle closer to the speed from a low draw here. Strong claims. Missile Girl was solid when placing at this track and trip a fortnight ago. A similar effort has her in the mix today. Magic Defense showed some ability in her first campaign, no surprise to see her competitive first-up today. Poseidon’s Son next best back to this distance.

Garnet Bay will be better for the outing today and suited out in trip later on. She can enjoy a soft run back in the field and present to make some ground in the home straight. Likely to find a few of these too sharp at the trip.

Currently, Garnet Bay is a $17 chance in the market.
