Geelong
Race 5 – Wuddzz
Jockey – Jaylah Kennedy
2418m – Barrier 8
Last start runner-up Wuddzz looks to go one better at Geelong this afternoon. The gelded son of Complacent ran a plucky race up in grade at Swan Hill a fortnight ago, settling closer in the run and finding only one better off a short freshen-up. Jockey Jaylah Kennedy leaves from barrier eight and can again find a forward position in the long run to the first bend, in a race that looks to lack genuine tempo.
Speed is drawn to the outside with Preferential likely to roll forward and look to control the race from the top, while King’s Crossing and Vadaboy can settle in the front half of the field. King’s Crossing beat some key rivals last start and gets in well after an apprentice claim. Finds a similar contest today and no reason he can’t complete the double. Christmas was unlucky not to finish closer to King’s Crossing last time out, finding the line well after being held up in the run home. Wants is wet, but expect him to go close today. Freedom Escape had been in solid form prior to last start, chasing a smart one at Bendigo after looking the winner everywhere but the post here the start prior. Each way claims. So too Preferential if he finds the lead without using too many tickets early.
Wuddzz comes through a stronger race than his main rivals today and only needs to repeat the Swan Hill effort to prove hard to beat. He can settle outside or just behind the speed throughout and pour the pressure on before the bend. Better suited on wet ground, but must be considered a winning chance.
Currently, Wuddzz is a $6.50 chance in the market.
