Warrnambool
Race 7 – Berry Foxie
Jockey – Jack Hill
1400m – Barrier 6
Four-year-old mare Berry Foxie resumes at Warrnambool today, having struck winning form before heading to the paddock last preparation. The daughter of Rommel perhaps didn’t handle the heavy going when fresh last campaign, but improved on firmer footing and out beyond a mile in subsequent starts. She’s jumped out soundly in readiness for today, jockey Jack Hill to let her find her feet early and settle where comfortable with cover in the run.
Only The Best will jump fast and look to lead from the outset, while Hellofastorm and Day In Heaven will be thereabouts when runners find their positions. Honour De Hero has drawn for a soft trail in barrier three, coming back in grade for today’s contest. 1400-metres suits and she races well on her home track. One of the main hopes. Only The Best should be able to control the race from the front, coming here fitter for four runs this preparation. He finished with subsequent winner British Angel last time out, could take catching today. Supreme Thunder races well first-up and must be considered, while there’s been a flood of money for Gold Logie who is third-up here. Others with place claims in an open affair.
Berry Foxie will improve on whatever she does today, better suited over more ground later in her campaign. She should get a nice run tucked in behind runners and finish the race off strongly. No surprise to see her run into the top six today.
Currently, Berry Foxie is a $17 chance in the race.
