Race 1 – Offcast
Jockey – Cam Rawiller
1850m Highweight – Barrier 1
Four-year-old mare Offcast is third-up and fitter when she gets out in trip at Terang this afternoon. The daughter of Dissident has had excuses in both career starts to date, but finds a typically moderate field in a highweight event today. Jockey Cam Rawiller leaves from the inside alley and will look to step cleanly and hold a position in front or leaders’ back from the outset.
Prince Of The Nile is the most likely leader in this from an outside draw, with Dollar Bucks to drag across with him in the early parts. Galloping Guru sets up for the gun run behind the speed, hitting this third-up and nearing peak fitness. This galloper was stranded wide throughout on debut when not beaten far at Camperdown, before a sound closing effort at Hamilton just eight days ago. Today’s rise in trip is in his favour and he is clearly the one to beat in this. Roxy Queen ran a better race last time out and any further improvement lands her in the each way mix here. Others look stretched, perhaps place claims to Norma’s Fleet, who drops slightly in distance.
Offcast is ready to improve up in trip today and should get every chance to do so from the head of proceedings. How the track plays will be key to her chances, but a better showing is expected of this mare today. Each way claims.
Currently, Offcast is an $18 chance in the market.

Race 3 – Parori
Jockey – Will Price
1000m – Barrier 1
Four-year-old mare Parori takes on the 1000-metre dash at Terang this afternoon. The daughter of Star Witness was sound at Cranbourne when fresh five weeks ago, before coursing wide and just missing a place at Kyneton last time out. Jockey Will Price has drawn the inside alley today and can hold the fence and the lead early doors here.
Born To Shine is the main speed influence from out wider on the track, while debutant Poetic Storm has shown good gate speed in her trials and jumpouts. These two gallopers also present as hardest to beat in this event, leaning slightly to Born To Shine who has the benefit of race experience in her first preparation. She ran third on debut in October before being sent to the paddock, hanging badly on that occasion and costing herself a shot at the win. A recent jumpout suggests she’s forward enough to be right in the mix first-up. Poetic Storm looks to have ability based on her jumpouts and could get a nice tow into the race on the back of Born To Shine. She won’t be far away when the sprint goes on and must be considered a winning chance. Xavier looks best of the rest.
Parori will have the advantage of inside running over her two main rivals here, assuming the rail is no disadvantage today. She’s suited coming back to 1000-metres and will have a slight fitness edge on most here. She can win without surprising.
Currently, Parori is a $4.60 chance in the market.

Race 4 – Twopence
Jockey – Madison Lloyd
1200m – Barrier 2
Three-year-old filly Twopence is third-up and ready to peak out to 1200-metres this afternoon. The daughter of Artie Schiller has been sound in two career runs this campaign, and gets blinkers applied for for today’s contest. Jockey Madison Lloyd has drawn an inside gate and can look to settle forward in the run with a clean getaway.
News Award will go fast from out wide on the track, while Fleet Footed and Five Star King will boot up underneath that galloper and find forward positions in the run. Open race. Five Star King enjoyed a nice trail first-up and ran through the line strongly over 1000-metres at Sale. Up in trip looks ideal and no surprise to see him in the finish today. News Award gave a good sight from the front on debut and can only be improved from that effort. She’s had a tick-over jumpout between runs and can again give them something to chase here. Debutants Fine Future and Wokou have shown enough at the jumpouts to suggest they can be competitive in this.
Twopence will have a fitness edge on a few main rivals here and has drawn for a favourable run on the rails (assuming that’s the place to be). Headgear going on will sharpen her up and she can measure up in a race like this. Each way claims.
Currently, Twopence is a $17 chance in the market.
