Henry Dwyer Racing – Wednesday Preview

Seymour

Race 4 – The Autumn Belle

Jockey – Madison Lloyd

1600m – Barrier 8

Promising filly The Autumn Belle is second-up at a mile when she heads to Seymour this afternoon. The daughter of The Autumn Sun was solid when finishing third first-up at Bendigo, and will appreciate the extra distance on offer today. Jockey Madison Lloyd will drift back to the second half of the field from the start, looking to hook to the outside and finish strongly in the run home.

Speed comes from Brungle Creek and So Distinguished in the early parts, while expect Phair Plan to be thereabouts when runners find their positions. Scratchings have thinned this race out significantly. Brungle Creek was good first-up for a new stable off a long break, finishing runner-up four weeks ago. He’ll be better for the run and will get every chance from the front here. Soft track the query with him. Phair Plan is another who returned well from a spell and hits this second-up. He’s had a few goes on rain-affected tracks without showing much. Concede an each way chance to Zouyaa from a soft draw.

The Autumn Belle strikes a very winnable race today and only needs to handle the going to breakthrough. She should get the opportunity to find the middle of the track to run on in the straight, and on ability, can pick them up and put them down late. Must be considered.

Currently, The Autumn Belle is a $2 chance in the market.

Seymour

Race 6 – Brungle Raider

Jockey – Beau Treloar

2200m – Barrier 8

Improving galloper Brungle Raider gets out to 2200-metres at Seymour this afternoon. The gelded son of Rebel Raider was good when runner-up in the Bordertown Cup last start, just unable to run down the leader who had a picnic in front over 2000-metres. The extra furlong is in his favour today, so too the soft conditions on a big track. Apprentice hoop Beau Treloar rides from a wide alley and will look to roll across to find cover in the opening stages.

Good speed in this with a number of runners looking to take positive positions in the run from the outset. Tewkesbury and Miletus come through the same race at Caulfield where they finished behind subsequent Flemington winner Dublin Journal. Prefer Tewkesbury who went better that day, and expect both to be up on speed in this. Hollandia was good last start when out to 2000-metres and up again in trip doesn’t look a disadvantage. He’s the forgotten runner in the market. Concede an each way chance to Del Campo who’s going well but jumps in grade.

Brungle Raider gets in well at the weights after the apprentice claim and will enjoy the sting out of the ground here. If he can get a nice cart across in the early stages, he should be able to present to the middle and run on when straightening. Strong claims in a competitive race.

Currently, Brungle Raider is a $4.20 chance in the market.

Mount Gambier

Race 3 – Offcast

Jockey – Dom Tourneur

1315m – Barrier 1

Four-year-old galloper Offcast makes her racetrack debut across the border at Mount Gambier this afternoon. The daughter of Dissident has jumped out soundly in preparation, her effort in heavy conditions at her latest outing was encouraging for today’s event. Jockey Dom Tourneur can receive a lovely run throughout here, able to lob leaders’ back from the inside alley.

Expect Rocklea to lead from barrier two, with Love You Belle to roll across and join her in the lead early on. The latter went close at this track first-up, backing up that effort with two solid runs since. They haven’t been strong events, but in fairness, neither is this. She’s one of the main hopes. Rocklea was beaten over four lengths at Kyneton last start but was less than a length from the runner-up. The winner of that race has won again. She’s a chance on that effort. Ovabent started favourite on debut in July and was disappointing. Must be something there? Concede an each way chance to What A Flirt who’s first-up. She’ll be strong late.

Offcast will be better for the run today and improve when over more ground. She maps for a soft run behind the speed and strikes a seemingly moderate event here. With improvement to come, she must be considered an each way chance today.

Currently, Offcast is an $11 chance in the market.
