Race 4 – Berry Foxie
Jockey – Will Price
1950m – Barrier 3
In-form mare Berry Foxie fronts up in Adelaide today, shooting at a hattrick of wins when out to 1950-metres for the first time. The four-year-old daughter of Rommel was a strong maiden winner at Donald in September (form franked), then backed that up with an equally impressive display at Mount Gambier when an easy victor out to 1800-metres. Apprentice hoop Will Price has drawn ideally and can lob outside or just behind the speed throughout the race.
Mr Coyne gets blinkers back on and may elect to roll forward from the outside, while That’s Unfortunate and maiden galloper Night Cruiser won’t be far away when runners find their positions. Only a few genuine hopes in this, starting with Regal Valour who is fitter third-up from a spell. She was competitive in stronger races than this last preparation and only needs to run up to those performances to go close in this. Manzala has been racing well without winning, which is where his problem lies. It’s now well over three years since his last win, but no shock to see him run in the trifecta. Crown Harmonium is next best, her past three runs have been good enough to be thereabouts today. The race drops away significantly from here, perhaps a place chance to Night Cruiser, who is yet to post a career win.
Berry Foxie will be full of confidence after registering back-to-back wins, and should get a favourable run in transit. She’s fit for recent racing and doubt the extra trip pulls her up here. Only needs to hold her form to prove hard to beat again today.
Currently, Berry Foxie is a $5 chance in the market.

Race 6 – Kyokushin
Jockey – Will Price
1400m – Barrier 2
Consistent galloper Kyokushin looks to go one better than his consecutive runner-up efforts this afternoon on the inner Parks track at Morphettville. The Scissor Kick gelding chased gamely and just missed behind an odds-on pop at Donald two starts back, before being gunned down in the final strides after looking all-over the winner at Kyneton a fortnight ago. Apprentice jock Will Price leaves from an ideal draw and can land outside or just behind the speed in the early parts of the race.
Even affair. Miss Kermie was solid first-up on the back of a jumpout win and expect her to contest the front early on. She’s up slightly in grade but rarely puts in a bad one. She’ll be thereabouts in the finish. Tapinforpar has placed in similar contests at his past two and should be at peak fitness fourth-up from a spell today. He draws for a lovely run tucked in behind the speed and is twice a winner at this track and trip. Concede each way chances to Headphones who is rarely far away, and Bold Feeling who was a synthetic debut winner three weeks ago.
Kyokushin maps for a good run here and is fit for three runs back from a long spell. He’s in well at the weights after Will’s claim and is in terrific order for today’s event. A win will do his confidence the world of good, and he gets his chance today to chalk one up in that column. One of the better hopes.
Currently, Kyokushin is a $3.40 chance in the market.
