Henry Dwyer Racing – Wednesday Preview

Geelong

Race 9 – Electric Impulse

Jockey – John Allen

1400m – Barrier 4

Promising mare Electric Impulse is shooting for four wins in a row when she lines up in a heat of the Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Series today at Geelong. The four-year-old daughter of Cable Bay showed her impressive turn of foot when winning at 1200-metres down the Flemington straight last start, and will be suited back up in trip this afternoon. Jockey John Allen has drawn ideally in barrier four and can lob outside or just behind the speed in a competitive race.

Expect Typhoon Harmony and Netanyahu to be positive from good draws here, while Shove Over can roll across from wider out and take up a forward position in a race that isn’t teeming with speed horses. Good race as expected. Von Hauke was solid from the back in Listed grade at Flemington last start, following a good win at Sandown when ridden closer to the speed. He should get a nice run midfield and shapes as one of the main contenders here. Rogue Rocker has been good in three Victorian runs since changing stables and out to 1500-metres looks ideal at this point. He’ll get back from the inside draw, but if he gets clear running, will be strong late in the piece. Presser ran well in a corresponding heat at Benalla last start, finishing alongside subsequent Caulfield winner Belthil on that occasion. That form reads well for this. Euphoric resumes on the back of a solid Cranbourne jumpout. He’s unbeaten first-up and this trip is suitable. Others would surprise.

Electric Impulse has strung three wins together since a first-up third-placing at Ballarat when on debut for the stable. She cops a hefty weight penalty coming back in grade but has a class factor in this field. She’s good enough to win this and must be considered one of the leading hopes.

Currently, Electric Impulse is a $4.40 chance in the market.
