Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

Ballarat

Race 6 – The Siscos Kid

Jockey – Jack Hill

1200m – Barrier 3

In-form galloper The Siscos Kid shoots at a hattrick of wins on his home deck at Ballarat this afternoon. The gelded son of Danerich has impressed at Casterton and Coleraine in the past month, leading throughout on both occasions to record strong wins. Jockey Jack Hill looks to keep his perfect winning record aboard the seven-year-old today, and can be positive from an ideal low draw.

There looks good early speed in this, with Lady Ardoyne to punch through from the inside and hold a spot, while Golden Day will come across from out wider on the track. Give Giggles may have the speed to burn them all off early, following an impressive win at this track over 1100-metres three weeks ago. That win was in fast time – around half-a-second from the track record – and the extra 100-metres today doesn’t look like it will pull her up. She’ll give them something to chase and shapes as hardest to beat. Kooled is right back in grade after a solid effort at Sandown eight weeks ago. He finished alongside Watadeel and Bews there, that’s good form for this. Apprentice claim gets him in well at the weights, expect him to go well. Power Missile resumes gelded on the back of a very nice jumpout, while Mysweetmoses is fitter third-up. Both with each way claims in a strong event.

The Siscos Kid is racing well and full of confidence coming into this contest today. He beat home China Affair at Coleraine last start, that galloper subsequently winning at Mount Gambier during the week. He’ll get his chance from up near the speed again today, how dry the track is by this stage of the day will be key to his chances. If the rain stays away, The Siscos Kid comes right into each way calculations.

Currently, The Siscos Kid is a $10 chance in the market.

Race 8 – Moscow Red

Jockey – Will Price

1600m – Barrier 12

Stable matriarch Moscow Red returns to her home track this afternoon looking to end her preparation on a high. The evergreen ten-year-old has been racing well without much luck this campaign, her last start effort at Bendigo full of merit when making ground in the wrong part of the track. Jockey Will Price will drift back from a wide barrier, hoping the rain comes by this stage of the day to make a late run down the middle of the home straight.

Early speed looks solid enough, with Eddy Street and Zippity Zoustar to roll across from their wide barriers, while Speakeasy and One Thing Counts can boot through from nearer the inside and make them work. Chances everywhere here, not much would surprise in an even affair. All So Clear won at this track and trip last start, easily beating home subsequent winner Samedi in the process. He contends with a sticky draw but is one of the better chances. Flyaway was solid at The Valley in a stronger race last start, arguably unlucky not to finish closer after being held up. The big track should suit today, and a repeat effort sees him right in this. Speakeasy is third-up and fitter after beating home subsequent winner Morpurgo at Swan Hill last start. She draws for a lovely run and can’t be discounted. Think I’m Famous gets the blinkers on, while Zippity Zoustar hasn’t been far away of late. Both have each way claims in an open race.

Moscow Red’s chances improve sharply if the rain comes during the day. We’ll know how the track is playing by this point and if running on down the middle is the place to be, the grand mare comes right into calculations. She’s fit and racing well, an each way show in the last on the card.

Currently, Moscow Red is a $13 chance in the market.
