Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

Bendigo

Race 2 – Quick Fingers

Jockey – Madison Lloyd

1300m – Barrier 6

Resuming galloper Quick Fingers kicks off her preparation over 1300-metres at Bendigo this afternoon. The four-year-old daughter of Caravaggio has been sound in recent jumpouts, and is four-times placed from eight career starts to date. First-up last preparation she was solid when beaten just two-and-a-half lengths over 1000-metres, the extra trip today a more suitable assignment from a good draw. In-form hoop Madison Lloyd can find a position in the front half of the field with cover in a race that lacks any genuine leaders and give her mare every possible with the rail out five-metres.

Admiral’s Daughter and Lady Gozen will push forward from out wide and look for the lead, while Our Perfect Train showed good early dash to lead and win a recent Flemington jumpout. This galloper looks forward enough to give a good account of herself on debut and has drawn nicely to take up a prominent position in the race. She could run top three without surprising. Phorcys has drawn the inside and can punch through to make the others work early on. He’s been forced back from poor barriers at both Victorian runs this preparation and should be able to settle closer today. A likely improver. Galan is first-up for a new stable, having shown ability in Tasmania previously. Drawn for a lovely run and has jumped out nicely. One of the main hopes. Admiral’s Daughter was sound in a recent Ararat trial, strong through the line at 1000-metres. Has to contend with a sticky draw, but comes here with an each way chance on debut. Concede Alternate could be an improver with the blinkers applied for his second race start, but the debut effort was plain.

Quick Fingers strikes a winnable race first-up today against a field consisting mostly of moderate gallopers. She should get a nice run in transit and be able to present at the top of the straight, having every chance to wind up and run through the line. Soft conditions will hold no fears for this galloper, and she can win this upon resumption today.

Currently, Quick Fingers is a $4.40 chance in the market.

Race 3 – Equatori

Jockey – Declan Bates

1300m – Barrier 1

Improving mare Equatori steps out to 1300-metres for the first time at Bendigo this afternoon. The four-year-old daughter of Toronado has shown some ability at the trials and jumpouts, but is yet to put it all together on raceday for connections. Up in trip today looks to suit, and soft ground could spur improvement on previous runs this campaign. Jockey Declan Bates has drawn the inside alley and can be positive early, looking to hold the lead or sit just behind off a steadier tempo up in trip.

Shifty Tycoon will jump fast and look for the lead from a middle gate, having won two recent jumpouts when showing good early dash. He was spelled after his debut run in January and looks to have returned well. Can give a sight from the front. Let’s Roll was sent forward at all costs before a stable change, and could settle forward from the good draw first-up today. Ma Belle Grise can use her inside draw to settle handy, while Blue Chip Girl won’t be far away upon settling. This galloper was sound in a city class maiden in Adelaide first-up, and will appreciate more ground this afternoon. She showed ability in her first preparation and is one of the main hopes in this. Magnupur was very good when fresh at Sale four weeks ago before a sound effort last start at Warrnambool. Gets blinkers today and should peak for this. Third-up last preparation he was runner-up behind Yasuke in a Sandown maiden. Hardest to beat. Iron Bar was an eye-catcher from the back at Hamilton last start, finishing alongside Thailess who just missed at Murtoa yesterday. Look for him to be charging late. Hard to enthuse others.

Equatori gets her chance to improve with a few things in her favour today. She can hold her position on the rail early and be forward in the run, with the fitness behind her to run out the trip today. She runs into a couple of smart gallopers today, but her work away from the racetrack suggests she can run in the top three or four today. Expecting improvement.

Currently, Equatori is a $23 chance in the market.

Bendigo

Race 7 – Kasami

Jockey – Celine Gaudray

1100m – Barrier 3

Speedy galloper Kasami is second-up and fitter when she travels to Bendigo this afternoon. The six-year-old daughter of Shooting To Win failed to beat a runner home in a hot sprint at Sandown first-up and looks suited back to this grade today. Apprentice hoop Celine Gaudray can be positive from a low draw, with a long run to the bend from the chute start to settle her mare into a nice rhythm.

As expected, there’s good early speed in this, with Rosalia and I Am Geronimo to work across in search of the lead from the start, while Suzido’s best efforts have been when ridden positively from the gates. Expect this galloper to improve back on soft ground after a plain effort last start. She was a beaten favourite on that occasion, but had been in the quinella at her three previous career starts. She’ll be right there again today. Debut winner Sasqualah resumes on the back of a sound recent jumpout at Stawell. She was a dominant winner in a good maiden over the May carnival and a repeat of that effort sees her hard to beat today. She can roll forward and be in the firing line early. Motitsi saves her best for this track (6:2-2-0), but no wins beyond 1000-metres the query. Smuggler’s Run will be the late closer.

Kasami strikes another good race today but will be better for the run at Sandown. She’s a second-up winner in the past and can get a nice run up near the speed today. The apprentice claim has her in well at the weights, and soft ground holds no fears for this mare. A genuine each way chance at an inflated price.

Currently, Kasami is a $23 chance in the market.

Race 8 – Moscow Red

Jockey – Celine Gaudray

1600m – Barrier 2

Veteran galloper Moscow Red drops in grade for a mile contest at Bendigo this afternoon. The ten-year-old daughter of Road To Rock didn’t let down on the firm surface at Warrnambool last start, but was excellent from the back at Cranbourne the start prior, one stride short of reeling in the runaway leader. She gets some give in the ground again today, and comes in well after Celine Gaudray’s claim. The apprentice hoop will let her mare settle where she’s comfortable from the start, likely to find cover in the second half of the field from an inside draw.

Difficult speed map, but Celebrity’s Beau can hold its position on the rail in the early parts, with Arabica and Toyz On Fire likely to roll across from wider on the course. Makusha improved sharply when up in distance second-up last start and a mile looks the natural progression for this galloper. He’s fitter and was only three-lengths away at this trip in Open company third-up at Sandown last preparation. Should get a lovely run in behind the speed and is the one to beat. The race evens out from here, with ,several runners boasting each way claims. Celebrity’s Beau is a first-up winner and has drawn for a nice run. He’s jumped out well enough to suggest a forward showing is on the cards. Salassi hit the line well first-up over 1300-metres at this track and has only missed the top three once from five tries at a mile. Look for him to be running on late. Distorted Mission has been racing well without winning and should get a lovely run from the draw. He comes back a notch in grade and will look the winner at some point. Prompt Prodigy can improve out to the trip today.

Moscow Red will appreciate any give left in the surface by this point of the day and maps to do little work in the run. Gaudray will want to find clear air rounding the home bend and present to the middle to run on. The grand campaigner is racing well, and a repeat of her Cranbourne effort sees her go very close today. An each way show if the track is still kind.

Currently, Moscow Red is a $9 chance in the market.
