Henry Dwyer Racing – Friday preview

Warracknabeal

Race 3 – Steller Eagle

Jockey – Madison Lloyd

1000m – Barrier 4

Russian Revolution filly Steller Eagle is second-up at Warracknabeal today, following an encouraging effort when fresh at Swan Hill. Dwyer’s three-year-old filly looked the winner at the furlong marker but just died on her run, finishing runner-up behind what could be a smart galloper in Silvagni. Madison Lloyd leaves from a good barrier today and can slot in behind the leaders, looking to make her run from the top of the short Warracknabeal straight.

There’s a bit of early speed here as expected over this trip, with Awen to come across from out wide and Perfect Costa to boot through from gate three. First-starter Naval Academy has shown speed at the jumpouts and won’t be far away upon settling. He won his latest jumpout at Donald in the fastest heat of the morning but was pushed out to do so. He should get a sweet run from gate one and can be in this for a long way. First To Mars ran on from a long way back last start in an eye-catching performance. He won’t want to leave as much to do here and if he can settle closer, is another with a winning hope. Perfect Costa is first-up and will run them along in front. She’ll look to kick off the bend and snatch the race in the short run home. The forgotten runner in the market. Nullafiord ran third behind Steller Eagle at Swan Hill but will need luck in the short run to the first bend to find cover in the front half of the field. Not without an each way chance.

Steller Eagle maps for a lovely run this afternoon and can have the last crack at them in the straight. Lloyd will want to avoid tiring runners in front of her and if the gap comes at the right time, will prove very hard to hold out. She’s returned in terrific order, presents fitter second-up and goes on top.

Currently, Steller Eagle is a $5 chance in the market.

Geelong

Race 3 – Tennessee Maggie

Jockey – Mitch Aitken

1447m – Barrier 3

Resuming filly Tennessee Maggie strikes a competitive maiden on heavy ground at Geelong this afternoon. The three-year-old daughter of Highland Reel mixed her form in her first preparation and will likely need the run today to bring her on for next start. Jockey Mitch Aitken won’t bustle out of the gates, rather letting his filly settle into a rhythm and enjoy a nice trail in the second half of the field.

Luna Angel and Kollantai will press forward from the start and look to have the top between them. Luna Angel has finished runner-up at her past couple and comes here third-up and ready to win. She was game at Swan Hill last start and with two runs under her belt, can be in this for a long way. One of the main chances. Booboo Boogie will be suited back in trip after not finishing off beyond a mile last start. She finished alongside Kollanti two starts back, who is banging down the door for a win. Both have claims in this race. Some Sheila is yet to run poorly and is another with a winning hope. Similar thoughts with Unleash. Tricky race.

Tennessee Maggie will improve from whatever she does today. Aitken will give her an easy time in the run and look to wind up and pass a few on the way home. Waiting until next start.

Currently, Tennessee Maggie is a $26 chance in the market.
