Henry Dwyer Racing – Thursday preview

Kilmore

Race 2 – Impending Love

Jockey – Madison Lloyd

1100m – Barrier 9

Three-year-old filly Impending Love has her third race start at Kilmore today following an inconclusive run at Donald last start. The daughter of Impending finished runner-up on debut at Ararat – albeit nearly five lengths from a runaway winner – but spent most of that race posted wide without cover and fought gamely to hold her spot from others who were entitled to go past her. Madison Lloyd has drawn awkwardly in barrier nine today and won’t bustle out of the gates, rather letting her filly find her feet and settle into a rhythm. Speed is drawn out wide with Smiling Zac and Jazzamatazz likely to roll forward in search of the lead. First-starters Congratsalot and Icefall may kick-up from their inside draws while Tango Jewell is drawn to land a plum spot behind the leaders. Tricky race to assess with five debutants engaged and only moderate exposed form for those that have been to the races. Smiling Zac performed well at Warrnambool and Ararat before putting in a bad one at Cranbourne last start. Tongue tie goes on today suggesting he may have had excuses there. Just needs to find the front without burning too much fuel and he’ll be hard to run down. Tango Jewel is third-up and will be improved from two sound showings at the races. Gets the right run here. Of the first-starters, Congratsalot and Icefall have shown enough at the jumpouts to suggest they have some ability. Plenty of unknowns however. Given the open nature of the event, Impending Love strikes a winnable race today and gets blinkers on for the first time. The barrier is no help but if Lloyd can find a midfield position with cover early on she can have her filly close enough to be fighting out the finish around the tight Kilmore circuit. In with an each way show.

Currently, Impending Love is a $13 chance in the market.
