Pakenham
Race 2 – Kasami
Jockey – Mitch Aitken
1000m – Barrier 4
Last start winner Kasami looks to continue her good form as steps up to benchmark-70 grade tonight at Pakenham. The daughter of Shooting To Win was impressive in victory at Terang last start, her half-length winning margin not indicative of the comfortable nature of the win. She runs into a small but competitive field tonight and Mitch Aitken will be hoping to repeat the run of Terang three weeks ago. A case could be made for all six runners to win this, starting with Miss Subtly looks to have plenty of upside. She is straight out of maiden grade to this but the form around a string of second-placings in her first preparation reads very well for a race like this. Won her maiden with plenty in hand and the market hasn’t missed her. Miss Roseiano is first-up following a fruitless spring campaign. She looked sharp bolting in at a recent trial here in fast time. Big watch on her. Who Shot Suzy looked close to a win before a forgive run at Sandown last start. She can roll forward and bounce back here. Kasami will enjoy the fast tempo and can take a sit just off the speed and have the last crack. She’s rock hard fit and can be fighting this out at the pointy end.
Currently, Kasami is a $16 chance in the market.
