Race 4 – Prairie Flower
Jockey – Celine Gaudray
1200m – Barrier 11
A golden opportunity has presented at headquarters today as Prairie Flower drops back to 1200-metres in race four. The Star Turn filly was excellent at this track and trip first-up in December when she ran third to a Peter Moody quinella, both of whom have won subsequently. The Dwyer runner didn’t appear to handle to rise to 1400-metres second-up but comes back a furlong today in a race she looks well suited. Apprentice hoop Celine Gaudray claims 3kg and has drawn towards the outside, often a plus in these straight races. Gaudray will go back from the start and can stalk race-favourite Pacific Ruby wherever she goes, looking to use the claim and finish over the top of the fancy. Others with a hope are Elegant Diva and Circle Of Magic, but neither jump off the page and scream ’back me’. At her best, Dwyer’s Stakes-placed filly can measure right up to a race like this and figure as a genuine winning hope.
Currently, Prairie Flower is a $10 chance in the market.
