Race 3 – Miss Carson
Jockey – Josh Cartwright
1200m – Barrier 9
Two-start maiden Miss Carson will be looking for sharp improvement in South Australia today when she steps out to 1200-metres for the first time. The four-year-old daughter of Silent Spring has been plain at her raceday outings so far, although showed a will to chase at Casterton last start on a track notably favouring those on-speed. That race was over 1000-metres and she was slow out from the gates, having to muster quickly to latch onto the back of the field. If she can jump on terms today, jockey Josh Cartwright can give the mare a softer run in the early stages and use the extra furlong to pick off runners and run into the prizemoney. Sweet Rock Candy looks hardest to beat here.
From the trainer:
This is as soft as we could find class-wise.
Her last run at Casterton is good enough to finish in the first few here.
Currently, Miss Carson is a $31 chance in the market.
