Henry Dwyer Racing – Friday preview

The turf is a bit soggy at Ballarat so the synthetic surface gets a reprieve for one Dwyer runner today.

Race 6 – The Siscos Kid

Jockey – Will Price

Barrier – 5

The Siscos Kid returns to his home track’s inner circuit looking to show improvement second-up from a spell. The six-year-old gelding made it six fresh starts without a win last time out, after being caught back and wide in a run that that never threatened, but helped build his fitness for upcoming assignments this preparation. Today has not been marked as a target by the stable, rather a chance to get another run under his belt before looking to really screw down and focus on a result next time out. That said, every time you saddle up a horse you’d love to see them return a winner, and the son of Danerich will give his usual big effort to try and pinch an unlikely result this afternoon. Jockey Will Price can be positive from a good draw today and place his mount in the front half of the field for the 1200-metre trip. The clear danger here is Greg Eurell’s runner, Prowling, who ran a clear second-placing to subsequent city-winner Savonia last start.

From the trainer:

It’s a good, additional run for him.

This run will do him the world of good and he’ll be somewhere near the mark third-up.

Currently, The Siscos Kid is a $21 chance in the market.
