Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday preview

Three runners across two states kicks off a busy weekend for the Henry Dwyer stable, with runners engaged at Morphettville and Warracknabeal.

Morphettville Parks

Race 6 – Harbourmaster

Jockey – Mitch Aitken

Barrier – 8

Four-year-old gelding, Harbourmaster, looks to back up his strong home track win when he progresses to benchmark-60 grade in Adelaide this afternoon. The first-up maiden winner was strong to the line last start on the synthetic and appears ready to accept the challenge of metropolitan company in South Australia over 1550-metres. Mitch Aitken travels the Western Highway to retain the ride on the son of Cable Bay, and will want to find cover midfield from a tricky gate on the tight Parks circuit. Hardest to beat looks to be Ziggi Rocks for Garret Lynch, who is racing well and has drawn an inside gate, and Will Clarken’s top-weight, Short Stories, who will concede a start but is two from four on this track. That said, the Dwyer runner will have derived benefit from his first-up run and is rightfully in the betting for his event today.

From the trainer:

He’s in really good order this horse, his gallop on Tuesday was excellent.

He’s come on a bit from his first-up run.

If he runs up to his form he finds himself in a very winnable race.

Currently, Harbourmaster is a $5.50 chance in the market.

Warracknabeal

Race 4 – Oh Canada

Jockey – Neil Farley

Barrier – 11

The first of Dwyer’s runners at Warracknabeal, Oh Canada, will have start number two for the Ballarat stable when she takes on a 1000-metre maiden event second-up on soft ground. The four-year-old daughter of Vancouver raced on speed and faded late at Ballarat last start but will strip fitter from that first-up effort. She has drawn wide in a race with plenty of early speed, giving jockey Neil Farley a chance to slot in with cover and work into the race as the leaders feel the pinch late. Busuttin/Young runner, Wok Star, looks the one to beat from a low draw but will get pressure up front from Shadoway Drive and longshot Sass Sass Boom, so there may be a late charge from those sitting off the speed.

From the trainer:

Today’s a good opportunity to come out and let her get in behind a few and see if she can finish off.

I thought she was ok at Ballarat, with natural improvement to come.

Ideally we’ll settle midfield with cover.

Currently, Oh Canada is a $23 chance in the market.

Warracknabeal

Race 8 – Let It Rip Reggie

Jockey – Zoe Lloyd

Barrier – 4

Let It Rip Reggie rounds out the day for the Dwyer camp when he comes back to a mile after a solid showing at Mildura last start. Apprentice Zoe Lloyd claims 3kg from a good draw and should find herself near the speed when runners have sorted their positions. The gelded son of Ocean Park has trialled well at Cranbourne leading into this and finds should have every chance of a top-3 finish at each-way odds. In what looks a fairly weak 0-58 handicap, Paul Preusker’s Fiorente Spritz is deserved favourite but the race drops away quickly.

From the trainer:

Drawn well, will put himself on-pace with a 3kg claim.

He’ll be thereabouts.

Currently, Let It Rip Reggie is $11 in the market
