Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today in PACKERS BOND at Moonee Valley, PAPER DRAGON at Yarra Valley, MEDIA EMPRESS at Yea

Moonee Valley – Good (4)

As at Friday, the track is rated a Good 4 but given the hot weather it should quickly be upgraded to a Good 3 early in the meeting. The Valley has been racing very well this summer and with the rail in the true position is should ensure every horse has their chance. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

Race 4 (2:25pm)   Mia Kleer Hand Sanitiser Handicap 2500m

No.5 Packers Bond– Blaike McDougall (Barrier 7)

PACKER’S BOND (7) heads to The Valley on Saturday where he will contest a BM70 over 2500m (Race 4, 2.25pm). He has drawn gate seven and Blaike McDougall will ride.

PACKER’S BOND was given a hope in a similar race at Caulfield but he was inexplicably poor and from the outside looking in it seems hard to pinpoint a genuine excuse. I can only think that maybe over-racing early off what was a very moderate tempo ultimately hurt him late. He had been going very well since joining the Dwyer stable heading into that last start and this doesn’t look a dissimilar race, so if he can find his best then he can certainly prove most competitive. I suspect the likely more genuine tempo with Swelter Magic and Saving – who like to fly – in the race will suit.(Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

With good speed in the race, the race maps well for him to see out the 2500m. Happy with where he is at and looking forward to seeing how he runs today.(Stable)

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $23 (as at 10am)

Yarra Valley – Good (4)

Yarra Valley is a momentum track with a short home straight. Horses that want to make ground from the back need to be building momentum around the side while leaders are best served rolling at a good tempo and getting their rivals chasing as they come around the home bend. With hot weather forecast the track should be a Good 3. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

Race 6 (3:56pm)   Ritchies Where the Community Benefits 0 – 58 Hcp 1009m

No.7 Paper Dragon – Mitch Aitken (Barrier 4)

PAPER DRAGON (4) heads to Yarra Valley on Saturday where she will contest a 1009m 0-58 (Race 6, 3.56pm). She has drawn gate four and Mitch Aitken will ride.

PAPER DRAGON went too hard at Geelong last start so happy to be very forgiving of that effort. She was good the start prior in breaking her maiden at Geelong and provided she has bounced out of that last run well enough then she is in this up to her ears. There looks to be far less pressure in this event and Mitch Aitken should actually be able to lead without doing too much work, worst case he lets TANTILIZER go and takes a trail. This is a weaker contest than last start and I think she’s a huge winning hope.(Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

With good speed in the race, the race maps well for him to see out the 2500m. Happy with where he is at and looking forward to seeing how he runs today.(Stable)

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $2.30 (as at 10am)
